I agree with everything that you wrote.

However, the only two products (As Seen On TV), I mean, that I got burned with were the Tater Mitts, and the Smart Lidz.

Everything else I purchased, from the Pedegg, to the One Touch Can Opener, to the Handy Reacher, well I am completely 100% satisfied.

I only buy from local stores that sell these products. Or I buy from Power Sellers on Ebay. I'm an ebay seller myself so I know these people.

I've never been burned, thank goodness.

So I shall continue to buy these gadgets (only if I can use them), not just for the novelty of purchasing them.

I just got my Juiceman Jr, from the internet. Best thing I ever did. I did the research. The reviews on the Jack LaLanne juicer, well they were horrible. Not so with the Juiceman Jr. And I had owned one previously.

$49.99 and it works like a pro. (I only wish I could drink the juice and not just have to give it to Alan). He's not a diabetic. God, the lovely juice I make every morning.

P.S. I wish I was into plants, so I could buy those Globes thingees, that you fill with water, turn them upside down, and you don't have to water your plants anymore. Those things (if they work), are fabulous.

You're taking the best approach, Mel. This business would not have the kind of momentum it has if more consumers used your approach.

It's interesting that some of the stuff delivers on its claims. I took a look at customer reviews of the One Touch Can Opener on Amazon and 50% gave it a very poor review. You must have received one of the good ones, good for you!

I got it at my local CVS for $19.99 (It's so long ago, who remembers??). I use it every single day. It's extremely powerful. You just put it on the can, press down for two seconds, and let go. It walks around the can. I admit, it takes longer to let it "do it's thing", then, let's say, if you had a handy dandy can opener.

My hands hurt too much to be able to do the can opener thing all the time. And the can opener, well I haven't found one, that doesn't put an emphasis on turning a knob or something.

So this gadget was very good for me (with my arthritis and carpal tunnel) for when they act up.

But the key is to wait until it stops walking around the can. Then you just lift it off, the lid separates, and there you go.

THE BAD THING IS WHEN BATTERIES DECIDE TO DIE!!!

I never laughed so hard in my life.

This happened to me about a month ago. I was opening up a can of button mushrooms (to add to my noon day salad). I put the can opener on the top of the can, it starts to walk around the can, and bam it stopped. I had no idea what happened.

I COULD NOT REMOVE THIS OPENER FROM THE CAN. The lid was stuck halfway in the mechanism. Nothing I did worked to free it. I bring it into the living room and I said to Alan. "I'll give you a thousand bucks if you can take this thing off the can".

He tried for 30 minutes. He gave up and said 'here's 20 bucks, go out and buy another one". I said 'Not so fast". I am McGuyver. I find out how to do stuff and how to UN DO STUFF!!

I look at the underneath of this can and tried to wedge it open. Alan had used a knife, a screwdriver and a wrench. YOU COULD NOT UNLOCK THE LID. It was jammed tight in the mechanism. I bent the lid, You can't hurt the can opener itself, because it obviously comes from the Planet Mars where all things indestructible are obviously made!!!! lol

So I said to myself 'There HAS to be a sway to separate the lid from the mechanism when the batteries die".

So I'm looking, and lo and behold, there's a tiny little thing, that when you press it in, the mechanism continues to turn, and the lid pops out.

Only took me a whole hour to figure this out.

I replaced the batteries and the thing worked like brand new. Been using it ever since.

I tell you, this thing was invented on another planet. It's THAT INDESTRUCTIBLE!!!! lol

P.S. I've been using infomercial products ever since there was an infomercial. I bought the first Smart Mop, The first Smart Chopper. The first Roly Kit by Joy Mangano. Never bought the huggable hangers though.

I LIVE for the next gadget (as long as it makes my life a bit easier).

But the best thing that was ever invented was the SWIFFER (next to the Shark Steam Mop).

The Swiffer makes LIFE SO MUCH EASIER.

Lightbulb Mel...

RiteAid policy is that with no receipt, you get dollar exchange only.

That means you can have other merchandise at equal value. (Is the RiteAid sticker still on the package? Hope so).
So you may have to buy (get) something else, rather than cash.

Just checked.

Rite Aid Sticker is still on the package.

Dollar Exchange is just fine.

There's ALWAYS something I can get in a drug store.

This is ME!! we're talking about.

The shopping lady!!!

I wonder what other infomercial gadgets they might sell in my local Rite Aid.

Be back later on.

And If I make a video, you'll KNOW I BOUGHT A NEW GADGET!!! lol

So there I am with the original package and all 4 smart lidz. No receipt. I politely ask if I may return it. The lady says "no, only an even exchange". I said: "What do you mean, an even exchange?" She says "I have to give you the same product back" ????????????????????????

So I say (very politely). I DON'T THINK SO!!!! And I whip out the 4 lids, one of which is ripped clear through, and all the rest are stretched beyond recognition. She takes one look and goes "OH!!!", then she says again. "I have to give you an even exchange". I said (again, very politely), I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Then she sighs and says: "I'll get my supervisor but she'll only tell you the same thing I told you". She gets the supervisor who looked at me like I was 100 years old (she was all of 21 or so). And she speaks to me as if I'm deaf and blind and totally incapacitated. She slowly speaks and she says 'OH, YOU WANT TO RETURN THESE?????"

Now I am looking around trying to find out WHO SHE IS YELLING AT, when it dawned on me. It was ME!!!. To her, I'm an old, feeble person. She said (screaming). I'LL GIVE YOU A GIFT CARD, WILL THAT BE ALL RIGHT??"

I looked at her and screamed back "GREAT"!!! Some manager person had to come and sign for it. He was about 40 and looked at me like I was 100. (Believe me I do NOT look like I'm 100), but to these young people I guess anyone over the age of 40 is 100 years old.

So I got a gift card worth $10.83. She looks at me and slowly explains (like I can't hear and I'm completely stupid). YOU CAN USE THIS AT ANY STORE, DO YOU UNDERSTAND...O K A Y???????????????????

I just took the gift card and left.

Good Lord,

I am officially an old lady!!! lol

I used to do ebay too, so I know what you mean. You get to know how to buy there when you do it a while. i've never been burned either. Bought a lovely ruby ring for $60 bucks. Had it appraised for $360.

I saw those plant watering things too, but I'd need way too many of them.

Wow, you got some deal on that ring!!!

I am actually afraid to buy anything on Ebay that cost more than $20 bucks or so. Never got screwed yet. Thank goodness.
