There is a product put out by Roundup in a white plastic gallon container with a pump attached called Poison Ivy and Brush Killer. I have used this quite a bit since I am highly allergic to the stuff.
It takes about 3 days to kill the leaves, but be careful of the stems and roots, this carries the nasty oil that makes you itch. I have also taken the liberty to spray the stuff on neighbor's yards if I see it. If it ever gets burned the stuff can get into your lungs requiring hospitalization to control the spread in your body, so I take no chances at all. Peace, David |
Yes, that special Round Up says on the label not to use it if you want to plant in that area soon. (2 wks).
That is why I choose the regular Round Up... The ivy is dying back now. We painted some on other ivy locations where it was intergrowing with valuable other plants. My husband used a paintbrush and only painted those leaves, on Sunday. Some have started dying back already. I just saw a news article that said any food grown in RoundUp soil has harmful effects on humans! That stuff makes me nervous, as I don't usually resort to poisons/herbicides. But the poison Ivy here is so awful this year...something had to be done, with it. |
