My brother (24, Slovakia) has congential hydrocephalus. When he was 14, he came to the hospital, because he was womiting and could not breathe. They immediately changed his shunt (they admitted it was a mistake). He got sepsis and his condition was very critical, he had more and more surgeries, with no succes, it was just worse and worse. After that we took him to other hospital. There doctors took out his shunt and he was given just external drainage for two or three weeks. This revealed that he no longer needs any drainage or shunt and send him home.

He still had infection (staphylococcus), but he was happy without any drainage for 10 years. Three days ago, he got pyelonefritidis, but he at first refused to go to he hospital, because he just knew that first thing they do will be a drainage. And it so happened he fainted, and when he faints he usually stops breathing because of his tongue is blocking the airway. We found out that when he is on his back with chin up as it is recomended, he stops breathing, but he can breath in recovery position. Paramedic team refused to listen to us, so he stopped breathing and even his heart stopped. They succesfully recuscitated him, but their actions made his brain swell. Doctors in hospital gave him immediately external drainage to save him. He is now concious, recovering from pyelonefritidis and he also has sepsis.

Doctors today decided, that external drainage is too risky and they will internalize it. We protest, because he is still in sepsis, his brain is still swollen and we just know he will have infection after the surgery, because that is what allways happened. He has also very weak immunity and there is no way of treating staphylococcus in his body. We want them to wait and leave him with external drainage which saved his life last time and after the brain is not swelled, they will see he does not need any drainage. He was without it for 10 years... But they do not want to wait. I know they are trying their best to save him, but we just know how it was the last time.

WHY THEY DO NOT TRY TO AVOID OLD MISTAKES AND DO WHAT HELPED THE LAST TIME??? WHY???!
