Hello Mandy. My name is Brian. I had a cyst removed from my brain and then 3 months later had the shunt put in for the hydrocephalus. Ever since I suffer from major depression as well.I know what you are going through. Have you went to see a psychiatrist? they can prescribe you some good meds for it. The best medicine is to get 15 to 20 minutes of sun each day. some things that are great for depression are salmon, walnuts, a good fish oil supplement, and if you want a natural cure instead of the pharmaceutical pills you can take st. johns wort or htp, or sam e which is the best. if u like to chat send me a reply.:winky:

Like you, I still have the chronic pain everyday, living on 10 mg vicodin and 800 my ibuprofen. Don't help as much. I'm so sick of this **** and it's only been 4 years for me. I hope your doing ok.

hydro-wife 12-22-2010 05:29 PM

My husband was diagnosed this summer with hydrocephalus and we think its something that has been building since he fell out of a second story window about forty years ago. I know he suffers from depression, but I think it comes not only from now having hydrocephalus, but from also having such brain injury there is quite alot he is unable to do. I want to cry for him. Do you ever have trouble with anger? or misplacing items? This seems to be a couple of the main gripes my husband has. We are still learning....... About everything it seems.
