I have had headaches for 3 months now and have had many trips to my NS with many tests done. My NS does not know the cause of my headaches, or why they are lasting this long. Yes, I have had an ICP monitoring test, normal. I have had a few head CT's and shunt series tests as well, but they showed nothing significantly wrong, unless the adjustments were set too high showing bigger ventricles one time. I am set at a high number again, as I have been all month long, and have not improved, and am awaiting a callback tomorrow for a visit to clinic on Thursday to see someone for this concern. I want to know if anyone else has gone through this?

I went through something similar and it was because my tubing wasn't working and so it wasn't draining the fluid completely. It was 20 years old and in fact it ripped when they pulled it out. I wasn't having a full-blown malfunction (vomiting, sunset eyes), just chronic headaches. The only test that DID prove it was a shunt problem was putting me on Diamox to reduce the amount of CSF (which made the headaches go away). Have they tried that? Good luck and keep us posted- the rest of us learn from these situations
