Default Headaches caused by shunt?

My husband received his first shunt when he was just a few weeks old, and had a new one when he was around 13 years old. He has never had issues with it (for the past 15 years).

About a month ago, his shunt became more sensitive, and he began having headaches. These headaches are not so bad that he cannot work or function, but it sounds like they are almost constant, and very annoying. There is no blurred vision or vomiting associating these headaches.

He is a bit concerned, but not to the point to see a neurologist (since he has not become physically sick). I would like him to have a CT scan, but wanted to learn about it a bit more before I forced the issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

{Quote} I have a shunt and have had bad headaches and usually every time there is a problem with the shunt. I have had 20 surgeries in the last 12 years. The doctor is now sending me to a Headache Clinic in Philadelphia. Does anyone know anything about it?

I would encourage him to see his neurosurgeon to be on the safe side, given that it is a change for him. Good luck!

I've had a shunt for three years now and have had headaches ever since. Doc always tells me shunt is fine. I just live with it-best I can. but since this is a change for him you should get it checked. good luck!
