Default Shunt Tap

My daughter is scheduled for a shunt tap next week. I'd like to know how painful this procedure is without any sedation. I'm thinking it would be easier for her if we do it without sedation but I want to hear from those who have had it done so I can be sure I'm making the right decision.

Thank you.

I've had many shunt taps and I'd say they feel like nothing more than a pin prick
