Thanks. I hope this goes away but I have experienced some strange things lately that concerns me before and after my last appointment but since it only lasts a few minutes or happens one day I don't think much of it. Some of these things are blinking many times to make street signs clear, my eyes still burning out of nowhere so when I went to wash them out at the eye wash station I held my breath so I wouldn't accidentally drink it and found I couldn't hold my breath any longer than 3 to 5 seconds before my head would start pounding causing a headache in addition to the burning eyes already causing it, also I had experienced yesterday at my friends house that if I kept my eyes open for 3 to 5 seconds things would be blurry, my pupils were bigger than usual yesterday and i think one was bigger than the other, and this morning I was having double vision but only when looking at my tv. :/

Boy I would guess with the vision changes it is Your shunt causing all these problems. I would call Your Neurosurgeon Monday, especially with pupils being different sizes. That doesn't sound good. May suggest You go to ER. Good Luck

Hi Lisa my pupils went back to normal the next day. The thing that I am confused about is when something happens it goes away the next day. Today though I am not sure if it is from eating only chicken broth and tuna(only thing my digestive system can handle right now) but do you know when you get that heavy feeling in the back of your neck and part of the head when someone pulls on your ponytail? I have had that today only no one was pulling on it and also do you know the feeling of chills down your spine? Well I had that at the same time I felt the heaviness (still have it). This was after the tylenol took away my headache I had this morning (most pain in right eye, slight pain in left eye and left part of forehead but then came back later and switched sides. It is gone now (didn't take anything for it the second time) but the heaviness is still here and the head chilld will probably come back.

Hey kl ~ Hope you are feeling better today. Dean gets headaches behind his eyes too and has a whooshing feeling up his head. Are you running a temp with the chills? still sounds to me like your shunt, but Dean just got his in Oct. so I'm still new at this. I'm glad your pupils have returned to normal. Did you call the DR?

I woke up with another headache this morning. I do not have a fever with the head chills. My shunt was last revised in 1999. I am going to my doctor tomorrow to pick up copies of my records so I can get a better understanding of my history and look up more info on some of the things I have experienced so I can get a better understanding of what it may be before I go back to the doctor. |

Hello,
I was one of the first people on the planet to have this operation, the fact that you are being told there is nothing that can be done is ludicrous. I had my shunt placed in Jan '70. Since then I have had three revisions and a replacement. I have had a headache 5 times in my life, surgery fixed them each time. The most recent in 2006, I had vertigo. A doctor telling you it is draining properly while upright and not when you are lying down, well that tells me the shunt is not doing what it is intended to do. It is not working and needs to be fixed. Any questions just ask, I am not a doctor, however I think due to the length of time I have had one I may know something. Quote:
