Hi everyone,
I know I haven't posted here in a long time but I have been experiencing morning headaches since Oct. went to my primary care doctor today and he said that my headaches are probably related to pressure. When I am asleep the pressure will build because I am laying flat and when I wake up that is when the pressure is at its highest but when I am up and about the shunt will drain properly like it should which will alleviate the headache. There is nothing I can do for it. He said if the pressure gets worse where the headache will last longer than a full day or experience vomiting, double or blurred vision with the headache to contact him. So the good news is it isn't anything extremely serious but the bad news is this is something else that there is nothing that can be done about it. Anyone have any advice on this? |

Welcome back!! My husband just got his shunt in Oct. 2012.So we are new to this. He has pressure headaches all the time, his neurosurgeon said shunt is fine. Do you have a programmable shunt? I would call your neurosurgeon and see what he says maybe need an adjustment?? They have no suggestions for my husband. He just suffers with them daily. I wish you all the luck!!

Thanks. I hope this goes away but I have experienced some strange things lately that concerns me before and after my last appointment but since it only lasts a few minutes or happens one day I don't think much of it. Some of these things are blinking many times to make street signs clear, my eyes still burning out of nowhere so when I went to wash them out at the eye wash station I held my breath so I wouldn't accidentally drink it and found I couldn't hold my breath any longer than 3 to 5 seconds before my head would start pounding causing a headache in addition to the burning eyes already causing it, also I had experienced yesterday at my friends house that if I kept my eyes open for 3 to 5 seconds things would be blurry, my pupils were bigger than usual yesterday and i think one was bigger than the other, and this morning I was having double vision but only when looking at my tv. :/

Boy I would guess with the vision changes it is Your shunt causing all these problems. I would call Your Neurosurgeon Monday, especially with pupils being different sizes. That doesn't sound good. May suggest You go to ER. Good Luck
