Personally, for years I was trying to tell people something was a miss. I was told I was everything from a hypochondriac to mentally unstable. It was not until I had a physical manifestation that things were investigated. One day driving down the road the lights went out and I could not see. Scared the daylights out of me. The wife took me to see Dr, had a scan and BINGO. That was '96, I had been having strange sensations ie visual fuzziness, auras, intense eye pain, 'wooshing' in my ears when I walked, tingles in my hands and feet, AWFUL AWFUL headaches. But I was told 'we've operated, that's as good as it gets'. At the end of January I started having dizzy spells then a couple of days later started vomiting and the headaches were chronic. The wife called an ambulance and I was rushed to hospital. So far this year I've had 3 surgeries and things still are not good. None of my symptoms are anything like previous other than the headaches, but after each operation they headaches have altered and not for the better. My pain was primarily in my right eye, now my pain is in both eyes and the bridge of my nose radiating back into my head. The hospital nurses wanted a pain rating out of 10. 10 being the worst pain you have ever felt , I rated this at 15. Like a bolt being shot from the back of my head out through my eyeballs. The nurse would not believe I was in this much pain. Pain is very subjective and until you have actually been in that amount of dis comfort it is difficult to explain, but the last thing you want to hear from a nurse is '...oh it can't be that bad....' I'm lying in bed in the foetal position, clutching my head and she thinks ...it can't be that bad.... You are doing the right thing, going back to the neuro's and getting a professional opinion, but I'm sorry to say you may find that this is your new normal. I hope for your sake that they can figure something out but be prepared, this maybe your new 'Normal'. It has been for me, unfortunately. Merl1n |
