Default shunt disconnection

this does indeed sound serious...sounds like a damn right ignorant doctor to dismiss you like that. grr.

i had a disconnection from the valve in my chest on my tubing, although this went unnoticed as i was well, they were very concerned when i slipped into a coma!! thats the only way they found out in the end as they werent too concerned before.

a shunt series would confirm the connection of the shunt and tubing, a CT scan will reveal any pressure or fluid build up...if any. go get these done =D

i would go and get a second opinion and a third if necessary, a disconnected is very serious as the fluid will build up and build up until the nerves on your brain get squished and your optic nerves get damaged resulting in permanant disability and blindness ...i may well be going overboard here but its all possible, i think its fair to say the second and third opinions sounds more apetising than the horror that could come of a shunt disconnection eh? =]

good luck xx
