Confused When will I begin recieving pay for time off work

My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: Mississippi.
Hi all. Please help if able. This is my first post...
I've been off work for 3 months now. I went to dr for my injuries, was put on light duty until further notice, pending MRI. My work very grudgingly allowed this for 2 weeks. After that, my supervisor told me the owner (small dry cleaners) said there is no light duty & I may not return to work until my injuries are resolved. They refused to let me file my first report of injury. I retained an attorney at this point. My atty filed the first report of injury with the state workers comp board instead. I have a text from my boss that I recieved saying they would file & get the ball rolling. Well I didnt trust them because of the shysty things they've done to me in the past-so I kept my atty. The company's insurance company is jerking me around. I was supposed to start physical therapy a month ago. The appt was canceled by physical therapy because they can't get approval for payment from the insurance company- they won't respond to calls or emails. I haven't worked in 3 months, much less began to recieve any compensation for not being able to work. My attorney says this takes time. How much? I was told I had to be off work for 5 days & would begin being paid after 14 days. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me? I'm in pain but can't get seen because insurance company will not approve claims. I've gone broke, I have lost just about everything in this time due to not being able to work & not being paid for time not at work.

You might want to contact your local WC agency if you can't get answers from your attorney. But it might be time to hire a new attorney.

yes, hire a new one. Finding a good WC attorney sometimes is not easy.
Sorry about that.
The workers compensation is not there to pay you, opposite what the name implies..
It should be called employers-try-to-not-pay-employees , but in their favor there is a lot of fraudulent claims.

Read a bout positive afirmations, and try to be positive.. Its difficult sometimes , but the alternative is not any better.

One time i spoke with an Workers Compensation adjustor that suffered herself anxiety because of the stuff her employer was telling her to do. Illegal stuff..

I already complained about where are the audits to my WC insurer, but have not heard anything. I am told more often that not that my attorney plays golf with theirs, you get the picture...
Of course, there are good people everywhere, but there are sharks everywhere and curruption.

Also, look for second medical opinion if your diagnosis does not add up with what you are feeling. Dont lie and make it bigger than what it is, but defenitly look for another doctor if the situation does not ad up.

After seeing several doctors i found an anesthesiologist that basically saved my life, so i am glad I told one neuro to go back to school and read some more.

I am an extra enthusiastic person, and that has messed me up because i am not rolling on the floor with pain. I do a lot of mental exercise to ignore physical pain that i still have and a constant sore eye, untill I colapse of so much mental activity and sleep anyhwere i am. I should be in disability, but heck, I want to have the oportunity of the best treatment there is, and the adjustors are brain washed to deny everything they can.

A lot of people don't know that the workers compensation insurers make money by denying us coverage, and also that the adjustors have bonuses if they can stay below their projected costs....Plus, they wait, the longer their money is making more money using very sophysticated investment vehicles.

Some states, Hawaii for example, will allow bad faith tort claims to be pursued if the actions of the claims personnel meet the negligence standard of unreasonably denying or delaying benefits. I need to look this up in MD myself, because the continuous delays and denials have decreased my options for recovery. The system is very overloaded, and big insurers have expensive legal teams that know the ins and outs of every word in the law, and they hang out lobbying with some grease...
We, the injured, are at the mercy of finding a good doctor (vast majority of doctors try their best but there is crazy stuff happening too, lot of law suits.) a good attorney, and hopefully a good adjustor that does not put their pockets first.

The CEOS could care less, there is no accountability..I would like to see their Quality Assurance audit...And guess, what? DO you think TV is going to show something against their sponsors?

So I suggest you to be strong, and do your own research before you hire an attorney...
