Hi, I have my QME exam on the 18th. Just got my paperwork to review. I went to see my primary doc for possible depressive symptoms(due to MS or not?)prior to my injury. I admitted to some depressive symptoms, but he listed some I never had or admitted to: compulsive thoughts,manic episodes, hallucinations, panic attacks. Wow, I really don't need this going to the QME doc, it's not even correct.

How do I fix this? do I have to go back to my primary, or call my adjuster. I swear, this is quite the crazy ride!

Oh wow- this is a doozy!! Let me get this straight, your primary physician wrote those things? And it was prior to the injury?
My opinion is that this false information will not be used in a nice way for your WC case and we gotta get it fixed to reflect the truth!! I would hold off on calling your adjustor just yet, they might get you flustered and put words into your mouth. I would want to get it cleared up THEN send the new records to your adjustor- by certified mail! **these are just opinions***

My suggestions: PM lefthanded!! (she has 13 yrs exp in WC [but not in CA]], call your primary doc, if you can't get the record corrected before the 18th could you maybe reschedule? Have you called the Legal Info and Assistance Dept in CA at 1-800-736-7401? Here's their website: http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/IandA.html
they have offices in 20 cities all over the state (and they offer workshops as well) they might be able to give you a clear idea of how you could best help yourself.
I wish you luck fixing this unfortunate mess on top of what's already going on. Please keep us updated!!

p.s. Just curious> Is this a general QME to prove or disprove the fact that you have a work related injury? Or is this a rating evaluation?

Thanks for the info. The QME exam is to prove whether or not my neck injury is work related. WC MD wants to blame it on the MS I have.

Here's what part of the note says: "She is also experiencing irritable mood, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, restlessness or slugishness, diminished interest or pleasure, sleep disturbance, fatigue or loss of energy, poor concentration and indecisiveness. Pertinent negative include anxious fearful thoughts, compulsive thoughts or behaviors, manic episodes, hallucinations, panic attacks, significant changes in appetite and thoughts of death or suicide. Patient has symptoms of a major depressive disorder."

Seriously, I just wanted to try some anti-depressants because I was very fatigued and irritable. His note makes it sound like I should be admitted to a psych. ward. Can't bode well for the QME exam.

I have an appt. with my primary on Mon. to discuss this. Should be interesting...

Looks like you figured it out! This is not an issue with the QME, but with your PCP. I endorse the steps you are taking as the way to go. However, if it were me, being as I have not encountered anything this difficult in records keeping, I might investigate how to approach Doc with your issue and what your recourse is if Doc is not very receptive. I say this because I am one of those "be prepared for all contingencies" kind of gal. Doctors are persuasive and can be intimidating, even with the strongest of us, and I want to see you have the result you seek.

My guess is that since Doc never followed through with recommendations of treatment for those conditions, it would be simpler just to correct the record than to explain the lack of follow-up. Just a thought . . . .

I took "pertinent negative (findings or data)" meaning that is what you do NOT have. You were negative for those items. Your PCP listed some findings of major depression, then said you were negative for other symptoms. Say you committed suicide this week because the "voices told you too" and your family sued him..........he has documentation that when he saw you, you did not have hallucinations or suicidal ideation.

Finz, that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up for me. That makes me feel better, maybe now I can quit stressing and get some sleep! Thanks again.
