Default Disability Insurance Pay Timeline?

OK, so it's looking more likely that I will have surgery on my neck (fusion C5-C6) and discectomy. Recuperation is a minimum of 6 weeks.

I have Employee-paid disability, as well as ST Disability paid for by my employer...

The ST disability requires that I use 22 days of SL (a month, including weekends). I have the time accrued.

In reading the disability brochure, they say I have to submit my physician records and other application forms to get approval of the claim, and they may take up to *90 days* to rule on my application.

That says to me that I need to have 3 months' of expenses in the bank before surgery. Am I reading it right?

Anyone who's applied for disability coverage? What was the turnaround time on your application before coverage payments came through?

Thanks.

Sandi
