Hello everybody!I was told my insurance provider won't pay for my lyrica presription.It's funny,because their own doctor prescribed this for me at the clinic this summer!This will be my first night without it.I will phone tomorrow,funny they have paid for it since July.

I do not believe it is safe to suddenly stop lyrica.
It is a medicine used for seizures also - from what I read
on it, suddenly stopping can cause seizures, just like neurontin.
I had to be weaned off slowly.

But I'm not the doctor, so I suggest the pharmacist should have called
the doctor & should have told you this. Or you can call the doc.
Maybe someone on TOS will know, I thnk lots of folks there take lyrica.

I have also heard you are not suppsoe to stop taking Lyrica abroptly. I had to stop taking it also. I have no medical insurance and would have to pay for it myself. If you are low income you can go through your doctor who goes threw the medical company that makes Lyrica and you can get it for free. I lost all my work medical from not being able to pay for it. My pharmacists at Safeway pharmacy also found some thing at a local level that helps pay for my pain meds. So I am only paying 1/2 of the normal cost. My wc Doctor also wrote me a large amount at once and that also brought the cost down. I also jsut found this on the internet. It is called Together RX Access 1-800-444-4106 and can reduce the cost of some meds up to 50%. You just present it at the time you go into to pay.

I have had the same problem. w/c will not pay for my Lyrica. It was prescribed my my pain management doc. When i went to get it filled it came back that w/c would not pay for it since it is a drug they dont cover. It gets really frustating because you dont know what they will and will not pay for when you go to get rx filled. Why dont they actually disclose this type of information to hurt workers and let them know exactly what to expect and how it will work and what is and is not covered. All other types of insurance have to give full disclosure to the coverage and what will be paid and such. I dont think it is asking too much for those of us off work and hurt and suffering to be treated with a little respect and not be put aside and treated like a second rate citizen. I know every state is different but all that I have read on the internet points to one thing. The *#@**% w/c system is designed to protect the employer and protect the insurance carrier and do their absolute best to make it as hard as possible on injured workers and get out of paying as much as possible. I can not believe that with all the bleeding heart causes in this country more has not been done to help and protect us.

Hello; Yes it is terrible. You go to get your prescription and feel like a fool when they tell you wc is not covering any of your meds. anymore. Wc stopped covering lyrica last Dec., they said it was being reviewed. I guess they did me a favor, I hated the side effects it gave me. I am tolerating gabapentin better than the lyrica. All in All, I hate taking meds. and I know they just mask the problem. But without them, I couldn't cope. At least right now, but I still have hope for a better quaility of life. I have been on nuerontin for 5 months and my doc wanted to switch it up (nuerontin keeps me in bed for 10 hours every night!!). My adjustor said he would not approve Lyrica because its an anti-convulsant.
.... Didn't have the heart to tell him Neurontin is too and that I am approved for that . It sucks that I am still stuck in bed for so long still- but at least they aren't gonna try to take that away from me too!

Hi Thursday and welcome to the forum. I am finding the gabapentin has less side effects than lyrica. Neurontin is the same as gabapentin. Is your dosage quite high? Wondering if it's cut back just a little if that would make a difference? Are you using neurontin for off label use? Neurpathic pain? If so, maybe something else could be used for break through pain or flare ups. Just a thought. The adjuster's or casemanager's, think they know more than our doctor's sometimes . Thanks Hairdresser! I'm so blown away that there are people out there that have gabapentin and lyrica in their vocabulary! I have been in a druggy cloud and my friends can only try to understand but you all actually can give advice cos you've been there--- this is wild!! I'm super happy to know I am not a pioneer in my situation
