I am just so fed up and frustrated with the WC system, and then to top it off, my employer is self-insured. Once again, after another hearing in my lengthy battle, the IC ruled in my favor and the employer at the last minute filed an appeal. I really do not understand the purpose of it as the appeal states that they will not provide any new evidence at the hearing. I have RSD, and of course since this is from a WC injury I now have very little hope of any type remission due to the many delays that the employer has thrown up for any type of treatment at all. I simply just give up. I can not do this any more. I am too tired and in so much pain that I just cannot fight anymore. This last procedure has been held up since late February, and my doc thinks that it possibly the only thing that may give any relief since all other options have been exhausted. I have to wonder if I would be so ill if I could have just gotten the treatment that is needed for this condition. I guess I just needed to talk to some people that have been through this process and ask how on earth do you keep from just giving up. Thanks, Lisa:Red eyes

If you give up "they" win...
Take a little time and give your brain & emotions a rest , then you just might feel like taking them on again. Some have mentioned filing for delayment of care?? or something like it.. your atty should know about how to do this - but I think you need a really good drs report and conclusive notes to prove it. I think it helps to have a top rated dr on your side. Or a couple of drs that agree on it. I don't recall all the information that was posted, maybe you can find some more about it..

Lisa,
I so understand your frustration. For me it was a little different in terms of the dx of RSD didn't come up for a few years into my pain battle, so it's not that a specific treatment was denied, but lots of time passed while the physiatrist that my (hospital) employer sent me too said it was all in my head. The end result is similar though.....I'll always wonder if I had adequate pain management from the start if this could have ended differently. WC doesn't care about you. Take a breather (as our wise Jo said) and get right back on the warpath If does defy logic. They'll end up paying your salary for years, but deny the treatment that could possibly get you back to work......doh !

Don't give up
I am dealing with an issue where my Pain Management Referral has been approved. Has been for 3 weeks. I cannot make my first appointment. It has to be done between the doctors legal team and my WC case manager. The doctors office has told me 3 times, because I called 3 times last week, that all they are waiting for is the WC case manager to call to schedule. And yet they stall. I won't give in and let them win. They spent months sending me to various doctors for more opinions before they finally approved some stuff.... If you give up, then you will never get what you need. Just fight it out and it will all come to you.... |

I will NOT let them win.
No matter how long it takes. They spend 4x the money to deny treatment. Then in the end they end up having to give you the treatment and paying out more because they waited so long that other issue's have risen costing more money. Just like my case. You are Strong and in time's of weakness, I will be strong for you. |

Thanks so much Bugguy. I know you are right, but I am just so tired of fighting this battle (8 years now). I think that I am especially beaten down due to the most severe pain flare that I have ever had. I have literally just sat on my useless butt for a week and crawled around the house. There has been a hearing scheduled for August 10. The drugs for this latest pain flare have cost WC over $400 this time. I just wanted you to know that your kind response brought tears to my eyes and you will never know how much it meant to me, Lisa

Wow- 8 years. . . And I thought I had it bad for my claim taking 4 years. Wait- I have had two claims in ten years, so maybe I am up there too- I just had a break in-between. In any case, hang in there.
