Default Imetego? Is it s form of shingles?

My son has had two bouts of impetego on the same butt cheek in the exact same spot. I was thinking it never really healed up the first time and that it's just reoccured because he scratched it so much. So is it a form of the herpes virus? Or shingles? Thanks in advance for the replies.

Default Impetigo?

Hi Pamster!

Do you mean Impetigo?

If you do, it's a contagious bacterial infection. Caused by either Staph or Strep. Commonly called 'school sores'.

Quote:
How long is a person considered infectious?

A person with impetigo is probably no longer infectious after 24 hours of adequate antibiotic treatment. Without treatment, a person may be infectious for several weeks.
