I got them twice. The second bout was in my sciatic nerve system. Very bad. Now I have Post Herpetic Neuralgia.

As others have said, there is a vaccine. I've heard that doctors are reluctant to give it to younger, non-immune compromised patients, because one can only have the shot a limited number of times during one's lifetime. Is that true?

From what I've read you can only have the shot once usually at 50 or older.

Hi all, I just went back on L Lysine. Hadn't taken it for some yrs and thought I'd take it again for more protection -- especially against shingles. 500mg daily to start out.
