Default Shingles question

Just wondering if any one else gets recurrent shingles infections?
Also I read about a Shingles vaccine??? Any info greatly appreciated. Tahnks!!!

Hi Motors....I bumped up an old thread for you that has info about shingles.
I don't know about recurring cases but I'd surely get the vaccination. My husband still has recurring pain from his bout with it several years ago.

Yes, you can get recurrent shingles. I am put on antiviral medication (famciclovir) at the first sign of shingles recurring. I had a very serious and rare complication of shingles called post herpetic transverse myelitis that destroyed and invaded the grey matter of the spinal cord 8 years ago that left me with permanent right sided damage. Not fun!

The shingles episode is also believed to have triggered underlying MS that was believed to have been in a remission state with me for at least 20 or more years. Bummer all around!!
