I see.... so, yeah, as I said before, ask your doc about paroxetine... I think it is less "agressive" than fluoxetine inducing seizures as side effect...

I think this question should be directed to your physician.

Since it is not a given that every patient with spina bifida has seizures, then there must be a reason that only some of them report this.

Wellbutrin(bupropion) is an antidepressant that has seizure risk for everyone. So that one clearly is out of the picture.

Also stimulants, like Ritalin and amphetamine, are sometimes used in minor depressions, so they also may lower the seizure threshold and should be avoided.

Sudden discontinuance of seizure control meds would induce a seizure, so if you change or stop suddenly that would be problematic for someone with seizures.

I would throw Lamictal out there as one possibility. It's an anti-consulsant (a seizure medication) but it's been found very effective in treating bipolar depression. Your doctor might think about prescribing Lamictal with another antidepressant- like an SSRI- and see if the anti-convulsant effects of the Lamictal help.

I see her, again, May 10th. I'll throw that out at her and see what
she thinks!!
