I have Spina Bifida, which, *can* cause siezures.
Unfortunately, I suffer from Depression, also. Does anyone know about Spina Bifida and siezures, and, do you know of any anti-depressants, I can take, which, won't interfere with my Spina Bifida, and, cause siezures??? Thanks! Phyllis

Hello,
just so your post... have you suffer seizures ?? I mean, I know 1 in 20 people with spina bifida may develop seizures, but I dont think, if you havent had any, taking an antidepressive will induce you one... I mean, what I want to say, even when you have spina bifida, if you dont suffer already of seizures, you have the same risk like anybody else to suffer a seizure for taking antidepressives... that's why antidepressives dosage need to be carefully controlled by your doc... Hold a minute while I check some info regarding antidepressives... I, personally take prozac which can induce seizures but at high dosages... i mean, overdosages.... be right back |

...and... yep, Im back...
You might want to ask your doc about Paroxetine... it seems that among antidepressants it's induction of seizures is too low... and, people with spina bifida take it. |

I did have my first siezure when I was 9 or 10.
That was it, until, I started taking Fluoxetine, which, I think, is causing them, again??? Phyllis

Take care about taking antidepressant drugs. Most neuroleptic drugs are epileptogenic (can cause fits). The same applies to ethanol (alcohol) which is also a neuroleptic drug. Surely your Doctor is the best person to guide you on this. |
