Default Exalgo anybody take this?

Hi went back to see the doctor today and they wanted to start me on the Exalgo12mg extended realease for the pain. I got the results from my ct scan an it confirmed the digenerative disc in my neck and the muscles were hugely swollen. So he wants me to try the Exalgo since the Dilaudid had been working some for the pain. It is so new the pharmacy did not have any they had to order it. So I can not start it till Monday. It is very expensive but if it works can I really put a price on relief. I would rather be in less pain than eat but we will see. I hope it works. The phamplet the doc gave me said that it was newley being used in the US this year but that it had been used in Europe since 2006 under the name Jurnista. If anybody has any experience with this med please let me know. Thanks!

Hi everyone I took my first pill this morning and am feeling a lower pain level. Hope this is going to work. The pharmacy told me that I was the first person in the area that uses them to use the drug. So they are going to try and keep it on file for me. It is very expensive though. the price is almost 500 dollars for a months supply. With my insurance and a coupon I get it for 65 dollars which is still astruggle. I just hope it helps and I will try to work out the payment for it. If anybody else is taking it, I would love to know how you are doing on it. Thanks Angela.

Attention I am on Exalgo also

I have been on Exalgo (and Dialudid for breakthrough pain) now for the past 4 months after being on HydroCodone for the past 3 years.

My only reason for the change was growing nausea with the hydro, and the Dilaudid and Exalgo did not have the same side effect for me.

Right now I am on the lowest dose 8mg of Exalgo, and may need to tweak that up some while I wait on my SCS perm system.

I love the Exalgo, but it is definitely more costly. With their card at Sams I am paying more than twice what my meds used to cost. The good news is that is at least 1/2 off what CVS would charge for the same med. I was also the first in my area on it, like you two, and experienced some delay in my initial prescription fill. It was worth it though. I am very satisfied with the relief.

Note: beware to always take near the same time. I slept in over a weekend and took it later for two days, then come Monday I took it early before work and was green for hours until the overlap wore off.

Nice to know some others finding relief with this.

Trig Just a word to the wise

Hi Folks, CRPS Since 2008, Have been there done that on many treatments for my CRPS including a spinal chord stim, methadone therapy, and of course hydrocodone always for breakthrough pain.

Just got home today with a EXALGO Box that includes a trial and a discount card passed on by my Pain Dr. My first internet search for EXTENDED RELEASE HYDROMORPHONE Came up with not one but two meds on Drugs.com
1. EXALGO

2. PALLADONE

I gotta throw a red flag here folks... In 2005 the FDA Yanked PALLADONE because alcohol could cause it to dump the entire drug load at once. Now EXALGO comes along with the following warning in it's literature

DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL WHILE TAKING EXALGO USING ALCOHOL WHILE TAKING EXALGO MAY CAUSE OVERDOSE AND DEATH.

Seems to me we have a drug flip here.. same stuff same problem just a fresh paint job and a warning to make the Lawyers happy...

I'm calling my Pain Dr in the AM.... best of luck to all!
