Partnership for Prescription Drugs
https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php Individual Assistance Programs by drug/manufacturer Brand Names http://seniorliving.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=seniorliving&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.needymeds. com%2F We very recently realized my father was also able to get free medication through the Veteran's Affairs because he is low income (and a veteran)...something he hadn't even considered orginally. Cost may vary dependent on income. http://www.va.gov/healtheligibility/...dicareDFAQ.asp My parents are low income seniors, and have been able to get almost all of their medication free. They had been exhausing their savings paying medical bills, and unfortunately we didn't look into this earlier. It has literally saved them hundreds of dollars per month over the last two years, that they just didn't have anymore. We've had to apply individually to many manufacturer programs, especially since the medicare changes for prescription drug coverage plans. They could not afford to sign up for any of the prescription coverage plans, and although it was a bit up in the air for awhile, most of the manufacturers still offer free medications to those who meet low income requirements, and DO NOT have any insurance plan for prescription coverage (seniors and non-seniors). They also got a lot of help with filing out forms from their local medical center/hospital who has a person employed just to help low income people do this... another thing to check for. If there are many medications, it is quite a task. My parents were each on 4-6 medications, and it pays to work with your doctor to look at different medications for the same thing that might have a better deal (free vs. discounted). Cara

And don't forget Walmart's list of $4 meds they offer. Not completely free, and it isn't a very long list, but if your medication is on it and you have no insurance, it can be a big savings.

There is a PILE of helpful information as well as access to, and instructions for, applications for free meds. I found help with Lamictal here, which for now I get free. The income threshold to qualify for help from Glaxo-Smith-Kline is higher than most, and they offer help with more than one med. They ask for a copy of income tax returns to verify income claims. My doctor's office found a program with Merck, and they supply free Zetia. That program is more generous than most as well - if someone goes over the financial threshold to qualify for help, they will accept a form signed by the PCP to attest to financial hardship because of medical and med costs. The call-renewal number for GSK has a prompt for Medicare patients, so I'm guessing there is help for that group as well. I hope this helps. TCC |

Hi not sure if any of you other newbies have seen this one but it is AWESOME....I printed off one of the coupons and instead of paying 50.00 copay on one of my meds it was only 15.00!!!!!! Been checking around on the site and found that I can get some of my now 15 prescriptions FREE!!! The coupon for Mirapex i couldnt get since I have segmental spinal myoclonus not PD but did find it in a different area on the site that does not require a PD dx. There are programs by brand name, generic and also by diseases. check it all out and if you cant get it under one are try a different one.
