Default Procardia

Doc prescibed this in place of the clonidine. Supposed to help warm my hands and feet. It is an old drug so it took several dayas as the phamacy had to order.

Was reading online it could cause mood problems.

Anyone have any further insight into this drug beyond what I have read

Hi Shelley,
Good luck with it. I hope this one does the trick.

I imagine you've looked at some of the Raynaud's Phenomenon sites and information? That might give you some ideas to help with this particular problem you're experiencing, Shelley. I just thought of that when I read your message and the info. about the drug. It's also mentioned as a possible treatment on the sites I just looked at for the Raynaud's.

Might be some other tricks to help you on the Raynaud's Phenomenon sites and also some things to avoid. There are many other sites of course including the Raynaud's Syndrome ones.

all the best to you, Shelley,
Lara

p.s. I notice that site mentions biofeedback. Interestingly enough I was reading on one of my Tourette's forums recently and they were talking about using biofeedback to somehow increase hand temperatures to help with the symptoms of migraine. It was news to me, but I thought it interesting.

Lightbulb Shelley...

I mentioned this before, but perhaps you missed it?

Why are you taking Toprol? Toprol's most common side effect is cold
extremities.

In regards to your other incident, I personally think it was the Topamax.
This drug is nicknamed Dope-amax because of its serious side effects for some people. It is very confusing and sedating for some.

The clonidine patch takes a few days to work up to thereapeutic levels.
I don't think you would have had extreme side effects from it in one day.

Many people with cold hands/feet do very well on magnesium--which dilates
blood vessels. YOu can try soaking in lukewarm water with epsom salts to see
if it improves things. Epsom salts have magnesium in solution, which can get
to the fingers and toes easily. This is simple and inexpensive.

Good luck.

Talking Thanks

Hi Mrs. D,

Thank you I did see your post about the Topral. When all of this started over a year ago it started with a very tight chest, heart palpitations and blood pressure that was up and down. I am guessing all from the TOS and the venous compression. The primary put me on it to bring the pulse down. BUt now with the RSD and some f the complications that it can cause heart wise I think it might be time to see a cardiologist to determine if the Topral is still the right med for me.

You are probably right about the topamax but am glad to be off both. I will try the procardia starting tomorrow.

I am I going out to get those epsom salts and give it a try.

Lara - thanks for the links to Raynauds I am off to read them right now. I am going to mention this to doc next week when I see him.

Thanks to you both.
