I've been taking 50 mg of amitriptyline a day for other reasons, and I have noticed that it also has been significantly helping me get to sleep. My understanding is that 50 mg is still considered a low dose with low probability of negative side effects, and the stuff is dirt cheap generic, so I might ask to increase your dose if I were you.
