If you're referring to the one being sold by the neuropathy support group (can't tell - there seem to be other supplement products with similar names)...
I've not tried that specific formula per se, but I and a good many people on this group have been taking what's in it (except for the "Propriety Blend", which could be anything/nothing). I haven't seen its pricing, or done the math, but from experience looking into similar supplement combinations, I suspect it's more economical to buy the B vitamins and ALA separately (and possibly better formulations). Buying them separately also offers the option of titrating each component to suit our individual needs/results. I think one could do much better reading the STICKY threads and PN Tips, Resources, Supplements & Other Treatments Sub-Forum in the Peripheral Neuropathy forum here: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html learning about these various supplements (and others), how & why they work, and tailoring them to your needs. my Dr. prescribed Prednisone which has been effective in reducing the symptoms you have described, in my hands but thus far not in my feet. but it looks promising. Along with Prednisone, I take a supplement D-Ribose which also seems to help. I happened to catch an article on Tv news about Neurontin (Gabapentin) users involved in legal action against the pharmaceutical company. |

I suffered the burning feet pain of peripheral neuropathy like most others here in the PN forum. I was prescribed gabapentin, and it worked, but with the same crappy S/E most folks deal with. Bleah. If it were the only game in town, I'd probably still be using it (or Lyrica, or Dopamax), but it's NOT the only game in town.
At the beginning of this year ('11) I sarted taking 100 mg. of R-Lipoic Acid (the chief ingredient in this "neuropathy support formula" and one that is made naturally in our own bodies) every morning. Within 48 hours, the burning pain in my feet was GONE (results not typical). Now there is an improved "stabilized" version of RLA that's supposed to work even better. Some months later I added 500 mg pantothenic acid (B5) to my regimen, and the further improvement was aslo worthwhile (reducing the shocks, jabs, and cramps). Acetyl-L-Carnitine also helps some folks. Most of us are taking B-12 (methylcobalamin). All this information is in the threads I mentioned in my previous post in this thread. Doc
