Question Tens Unit Combination

Has anyone tried this for sciatic pain? This particular model is a combination Tens unit and muscle stimulator. I would appreciate any recommendations before I spend money on something that doesn't work. My DH suffers with arthrits and sciatic pain.

I'm sure there have been many posts about the tens unit, but I can't seem to find them.....TIA

Did the doctor recomend this? Is there training involved in it's use? I only ask that as I have had mixed luck with ultrasound in treating huge sicatica flairs. Some days it was pure heaven and other days when the pain was beyond words, the lowest setting brought me up off the PT table. I have experienced the same with e-stim.

This was one of the reasons I was reluctant to try the scs again. As it turned out, I was in dreadful shape when they did the trial and the darn thing eliminated ALL of the neuropathy. I still haven't gotten over that.

As doc recomended, research what you can find on this site. This place is loaded with experience, wisdom and genuine concern. I am also really interested what your husband's doctor thinks about it. If he has a physical therapist, I would be interested in that person's input. Take care and PLEASE keep us posted on what you find out. Best wishes.

I can only comment on the Tens Unit for sciatic paiin. This thing seems to irritate the sciatic nerve even more for me. It made it get angrier even more than it already was! I've had severe sciatica for 26 years, and even had the spinal cord stimulator implanted and THAT didn't even work!

The ONLY thing that has worked for me has been the medicatiions Opana combined with Lyrica. FINALLY I got some relief after all those years! It's been a God send = I had tried about every drug in the book, but only this combo has worked. What a relief! I could have kissed my doc, but he might have gotten a bit upset. lol

I hope your Tens/juscle stim works for you. Will you PLEASE keep us posted about it? I'm sure it would help lots of other people. God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee
