Drug induced lupus, is similar to autoimmune lupus, but not as severe. It can have inflammatory pain in the joints, and rashes on the body, and in general be painful and serious.
Here is a link: http://www.lupus.org/webmodules/weba...=377&zoneid=17 The list given here does not include every potential cause. As data is reported slowly, the list changes to reflect that. This article from 2001 reports DIL from ACE inhibitors: Quote:
The only real treatment is removal of the offending drug. 30+yrs ago I had a drug induced lupus from Hydralazine, which I had to take for my pregnancy hypertension. Recently I've had a second attack involving my long term blood pressure medication, lisinopril. So I am posting this here, for those who may have side effects from any medications they may be taking, causing lupus-like symptoms and having a negative ANA autoimmune panel in testing. People vary in their genetic composition, and hence ability to tolerate drugs in general. So don't underestimate any therapy you are having, which suddenly develops into a lupus like syndrome. The drug lists available today are not complete, and it can take many years to identify new culprits. Bookmark the Lupus Foundations address, so you can consult it in the future.
