Default Pharmacist question

I just opened a new bottle of Omeprazole for my husband, and found one capsule broken and all the little bitty "beads" of omeprazole loose in the bottle. Only one capsule was broken. Should I notify the mail order pharmacy (CVS) or the manufacturer? In other words, would they want to be informed? Or is that just something that happens now and then, and I'll just forget about it? It's not an expensive med.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!! There is no telling what else is wrong with that prescription!!!! How much it costs(or doesn't cost), is a mute point!!!! The pharmacist should give you a full replacement!!!

That's up to you. CVS would be who to notify; the mfr had no control once it left their possession. I'd call the local one, explain the situation, and ask them.

If it were a medication where a broken dose would have safety ramifications (e.g. controlled substance) a replacement would be in order. OTOH, this is essentially Prilosec; if it's just a matter of a gelatin capsule breaking, that's common enough I wouldn't worry about it. These things can and do happen on occasion.
