Hello,
Like to share something I saw in Walgreens Pharmacy and an experience I had in my local Walgreens in Jan of this year. I had been using Walgreens for years because it is so close to my house. Took my scripts there in January, same ones I had been taking there for years. Always used same pharmacy. Pharmacist asked why Dr perscriped me the pain meds. Told her chronic pain. She said chronic pain is very vague whats wrong with you. Should add wasent just me and her, 6-7 people in line or at counter. Said I have problems with my back and neck from accident in 2006. She asked what kind of problems, did you sprain your back, did you pull somethong? I said herniated disc L5-S1, L4-L5, L3-4, T7-T8, T8-T9, compression fracture T12, She stops me and says ok, ok, you have a lot wrong with your back. I just kept going and told her everything I could remember that was wrong with me. She said ok, still have to call your dr. to check. Dr wasent at office yet, took 20 minutes for him to call back. When he called back could hear pharmacist saying im sorry, I understand, its our new policy... then gave me the phone. Dr. told me to get **...out of there, use another pharmacy. Now he asks all his Walgreens patients to please use another pharmacy. Today I went in the Walgreens I used to use with a friend who was picking up script for his wife and I saw sign on counter that says. "To meet our commitment to dispense perscription pain medications safely, certain perscriptions may require additional processing time and may be refused at our discretion'. Maybe its just me but I found the encounter in January very embarrasing and I think the sign is just rude. Just wanted to share this. Last edited by Chemar; 04-12-2013 at 05:54 PM. i'm in New York, and there is a separate area that the pharmacists will take you off to to see if you have any questions etc.
To explain that all to anyone besides my doc is more than my patience can bear. hope you got things straightened out |

I have a relationship with my physician for over 30 years. I hate it when a pharmacy second guesses my doctor's prescriptions. Sometime I get a 3 month supply of Norco and I've had a pharmacy call to wonder is the amount is correct. Inevitably when that happens, my doctor's office cuts the amount down. The worst pharmacy is CVS! I will never shop there if I can help it.

I would file a complaint with HIPPA. I fill some of my prescriptions with Walgreens, only the ones that I am not using long term, and none of the pharmacists have ever asked me any questions. I've only been asked if I had questions for the pharmacist about my prescriptions. My long-term use prescriptions are filled by Express Scripts. Chelle |
