Due to my various injuries/disabilities, I've been on Oxycodone 10/325 for over 18 months (except for a 5 month break it would be 3 years in September). In the past several weeks I've had to regularly up my dose so I asked my Dr for a change and he prescribed the 10mgc/hr Butrans patch. I've used the Flector and Lidoderm patches but I've never used anything like this 7 day patch before. Any suggestions, comments or incite would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I pick up my prescription this afternoon.

Make sure you get all information sheets and inserts from your pharmacist, and read them through carefully before applying your first patch. If you have any questions/concerns, then is the time to bring them up with either your doctor (by phone -- I don't know if s/he's your PCP or specialist or what) or the pharmacist (who may be easier to reach than your doctor). Not all doctors are as aware as they might be of the meds they prescribe.
