I wanted to have some advice on what I suffering.I have terrible headache mostly everyday, I feel stressed over every little thing and now I also feel depressed...I told my friend about it and she told me that I may be suffering from depression and anxiety because I recently came out from a relationship which really affected me and still affects me .My husband left me to go to another woman, he btoke my trust!! My friend told me that I could take either "clorazepam" or "clorazepate" which are anti-anxiety medication.I tried to search for it online but I got a controlled substance list instead and it includes the medication that I mentioned above ...I want to know if I could get it elsewhere or if I could take something else to help me deal with what I am suffering???Any suggestion welcome....I really need some help regarding this matter...

I could say hey you got rid of a jerk, and might be right. But what
your feeling is awful and very say. You would have to get that by a
Drs. script. as you have found out. Pehaps others who see your post
can help, all i can say is meditation helps me. Good luck Sue

Hi
I am moving this thread to the medications forum as it is likely to get more answers there

I really would agree that a doctor is the only one who can correctly advise and prescribe on this for you

Default anxiety

You should really see your doctor about this. In a lot of cases doctors will prescribe something like klonopin for a few weeks and start an SSRI medication which can be very effective in treating your anxiety and depression. The klonopin just covers up your symptoms to make youmore comfortable.

I am not a advocate for medications.........because so many of them are synthetic and do nothing good for you as a whole person.

For stress I would like to say in difficult situations like your's talk to a therapist. There are many different ways to deal with stressful situations and one is to talk it out, to get prospective.

Take frequent "me time" time outs. If you like soothing hot baths, close yourself in the bathroom with some nice candles, bubble bath or salts - turn down the lights and relax.

Use visualiztion and meditation exercises - they are very helpful. You can do this in your room. Darken the room, turn off everything, lie down on your bed and start deep breathing. Concentrate on where your stress is - (head and neck) so tighten and loosen the muscles. This can help if you do this for about a half an hour.

Self talk is very important too - if something starts to stress you out - use self talk to not turn a molehill into a mountain.

One day at a time - deal with today - today. Do not worry about yesterday or tomorrow. Deal with life today.

Can you journal?

There are a number of wonderful calming teas out there one of which is Chamomile - my favorite is a mixture of hibicus, orange, peony and raspberries. But everyone is different.

Valerian root is also very calming and can help you deal with life.

Exercise is also very very good for dealing with stress - even stretching exercises.

I hope that life becomes easier for you soon.

All the best -

Kim

Hi Tiredbrain. Are you still out there? I happened across your post. I'm so sorry for your loss. There are a lot of good suggestions here. But I'm leaning towards talking to a doctor as well. Do you have a good and understanding doctor? Many people need help getting through really rough times, and a divorce/breakup is right up there high on the stress scale!

Probably most of us have had a love heartbreak at some point or other and for some people it can be extremely difficult. I completely understand. I went through the same things as you. I was so depressed and distraught I didn't think I'd live through it. But I did.

A really good therapist is helpful as well. Some medications could very help you through this difficult time.

I hope you are doing okay since you posted.

I really agree that the first thing that you should do is schedule time with a therapist. If you have insurance that covers therapy, you are lucky and can make your appt. following your insurance guidelines.

If you don't have insurance, you can either pay the fee yourself ($100-$200 hr. for therapy, depending on the doctor. MSW's are less costly than psychiatrists, for example.)

More than likely, you probably needs the services of a local Mental Health Clinic that charges on a sliding scale depending on your income. But these clinics are usually very backed-up so you should call one asap. If you PM me with where you live, I will be happy to try to find a clinic for you.

Gotta go - I have my therapy session in an hour.

Best of luck,
Nancy-H
