Default Lyrica discontinuation and those that made it through

Hi Everyone,

Been four weeks now since last took Lyrica. However, still getting neck ,thoracic and face spasms , ( these symptoms only started while taking Lyrica ) My Neuropathic pain suddenly returned but not too bad now. The spasms I believe ? are called Dystonia and I read that this is caused by disruption of the neurotransmitters. ? Can anyone that has reached the other side relate to this .
My Doc is in denial that there is any effects from Lyrica and so looks at me as some oddity. Does not do much for your confidence.

Regards

Nick

Yes Yes and more Yes. I have been off Lyrica about 50 days now and the pains are lessening but still randomly bad. Out of the blue I woke up the other morning with a new pain I had not had before. It was a stabbing pain in my right shoulder so bad that I was teary. It did subside over a 3 day period. One thing I find fascinating is that alcohol made it totally disappear for about half an hour. I had half a beer and the relief was amazing. Apparently alcohol also affects your GABBA in a similar way. At least I was sure that it was still the effects of withdrawal so I relaxed and just let my body cope in its own time by itself. Lyrica is shocking. It was good for my nerve pain but what it does to your body long term is just horrendous.

Hi Mckenzie , As I have said in previous posts to you , You and I are going down the same road. Also I also found alcohol made me feel good , no pain, I had some wine at my daughters birthday. I have also been given some Chamomile from my homeopath, have not started , but this also binds with the gaba receptors. Yet to see how things work out. Awful day today . Crippling pain in neck and back .

Let me know how things go with you and I will reciprocate.

Regards

Default Lyrica withdrawel

How did you make it through the sweating??? I've attempted to stop Lyrica, even got down to less than 25mg per day, but the SWEATING! How long will it last? I was soaked, drenched, after a shower I couldn't even dry off.
I'm back on 400 mg per day due to pain intensity, but dream of a slimmer life without Lyrica. I'm buying it overseas now, it's cheaper, and that is making it harder to put it down as well. It uded up most of my medicare Rx benefits and I was in the donut hoe by June. At $240 a month it made sense to stop taking it, but then found it online from India, $130 a month for 400mg per day. Same price as my usual copay for it.

Hi SarahB , This hellish drug affects us all harshly but not necessarily in the same way. My worst battles are with dreadful muscle spasms and pain which limit and incapacitate me at times. Although I have had arrange of others which had me being rushed to A&E 4 times this year . Anyway sweats at this time are not a problem for me . How long will it last is the 64000 dollar question we all ask. I guess its all about hope and not losing it. It will take as long as it needs with all of us but we must keep our sights on the promise that it will pass eventually when the time is right. Of course I get down and depressed and fearful but I know I must not lose hope.

Wishing you well

Regards

Nick
