Question Pramipexole (Mirapex)

I've been prescribed Mirapex (Pramipexole) 0.5 mg for Restless Leg Syndrome.

My Neurologist prescribed it for me. He never mentioned that it is a PD drug. My pharmacist told me.

I know that some PD drugs cause some undesirable side effects but I have not had any with this drug. I just take 1 pill before bed and it completely take away all my restless leg symptoms.

Just wondering if anyone else has taken this med for any other reason other than PD.

My dad takes a very low dose of it - boosts the PD meds effectiveness and helps w/ RLS & weak legs too.
He didn't have any of the compulsive side effects, at the higher dose he did hallucinate at times.
Vesicare was also a problem , when we changed to an older type med his side effects lessened too.
It may have been the Vesicare/higher dose mirepex combo that was the main problem for him..

Jo, I think my dose is very small.......0.5 mg per tablet. I've only ever taken 1 at a time and so far only 1 at bed time. I guess if I took more of it or took it more often I might have some side effects.
