Default tapering of Amitriptyline

Does any one know approximately how a schedule would be for tapering off from Amitriptyline. I know it would depend on dose and length of therapy. Therapy has been 20 mg for about 2 years. I know it has to be done under the doctor's care. I gues it needs to be done very slowly?

Your doctor would be the best source for a tapering schedule but I can attempt to help you if you give me a little more information. I am not a doctor just have some experience with this.

Do you ever skip doses?
Do you always take the same amount?
Do you dose at the same time every day?
Any other medications/supplements?
How long exactly has it been since you started taking the drug?

Sincerely,
Danny

Oooooh. I feel for you on that med!

I couldn't deal with taking that at all, made me sleep the entire next day- and even longer if i didnt have someone to wake me up! And talk about bad dreams too! WOW!

Titrating off this should DEF come from a Dr who prescribed it and knows what they are doing for sure! Best of luck and hope you didnt have these sort of issues too?
