Thanks for Good News, Razzle!

Thanks for sharing the good news, Razzle! :D
This move by Imprimis restores some faith.

Companies like Imprimis, taking more compassionate action, are deserving of a stock increase. :) I hope Imprimis can continue to offer fair pricing on all drugs and make a healthy profit.

I'll bet if a company, or some companies, in need of more investors, set up a sound business with a mission statement which included continued fair pricing, they'd benefit from some major investors to help keep the company growing.
Just a thought. :)

Thanks again for some good news! :D

Big Pharma Wants Access to Distribution in Other Countries?

Didn't get time to post earlier then lo and behold it's a feature story on tv news here tonight with Hilary Clinton wading in saying she will stop such massive increases. Will be interesting to see if anything really changes as this guy is only one of many companies that have bought up rights to low priced older medications and ramped the prices sky high.

Hi Bluesfan, Thanks for letting us know what's going on with Big Pharma in NZ.
In the past, I have read the U.S. based pharmaceutical companies have made medications available for much less in other countries. Yet, this "less than is charged in the U.S." may be more than is charged in NZ at this time. (?)

Of course, the companies have something to gain by securing access to the prescription medication distribution in other countries. Hopefully, this would be an honorable business venture, in that it's taking place under "Fair Trade.";)

I believe you are right on, in that the companies being highlighted for these practices are likely not the only companies involved in hiking prices on old generic meds.

Should be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Thanks, Marlene!

P.S. I was in a hurry when I had posted this link. I have just re-read this letter to Valeant. It's quite a letter! This letter announces an investigation into recent price increases of specific drugs. Valeant is asked to supply specific information, including the prices charged in foreign markets, etc. Anyone interested in this topic will likely find this document interesting. It's brief and to the point. :)

Let's Keep Sharing Information and Concerns

Hi Debi,

Thanks so much for posting on this topic. :)

I agree, it's all a bit infuriating. (I, too, am a peaceful person. Yet, sometimes, anger is an appropriate response.) ;)

It helps me to know some lawmakers are using their power to investigate.
I am glad, too, there is increasing awareness of the issues needing investigation. It always helps to shine bright light onto darkened/unjust agendas.

I hope we will all help to keep this under intense light for further investigation and appropriate legal remedies -- by sharing this information, sharing our concerns with friends, family, acquaintances, lawmakers, health professionals, etc.

Love and Light,

It is good that his behavior has at least brought what they do to people's attention and it would be nice if something would be done to prevent all of the companies from exploiting people.

Hi Judi,
Thanks for contributing to this thread. :)
This topic needs as much action as possible.

I think you may also like reading the letters written to Valeant and to Hospira.
The House and Senate Oversight Committees are taking investigatory action.
Both letters are linked into post # 17.

What will happen in the long run?
I think we can all help in determining at least some of what happens by continuing to educate other people and continuing to voice concerns.

I hope we can all help to make a difference.

Hospira Sales to Valeant Prompt Investigation by Oversight Committees

I have just discovered another letter involved in this specific investigation. Reading both letters has helped me to better understand some of what has gone on behind the scenes. I want to place both letters in the same location for everyone's convenience. Thanks for your patience.:)

House and Senate Oversight Committee Investigations:

Hospira sold the rights to two drugs to Valeant. (Isuprel and Nitropress)
Hospira also had an agreement to continue manufacturing these drugs for 5 more years.

Valeant increased the prices of the drugs.

These two letters show us a little more about this transaction and also tells us what types of information these committees have requested.

Letter to Hospira:

Letter to Valeant:
http://democrats.oversight.house.gov...Nitropress.pdf

Interesting documents.
I wonder if the companies involved have responded fully by the dates specified in the letters?
