The problem ~ ADs make me feel better emotionally however physically I do worse.
I have been on a few different ADs and at some point they all seem to have this affect on me.....I'm more tired, less energy and tend to over eat. When not on an AD I have more energy and exercise more but emotionally it gets scary....I feel lost, cry more, more negative thoughts, I want to "run" (away) and the "black hole" of depression starts to get larger. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

You know now there are many new drugs to choose from.
(and non drugs--- I am personally using a light visor daily) There are SSRI's There are tricyclics There are combo ssri + norepi There is the new selegiline patch Emsam ( a low dose MAOI in patch form thought to be safer than oral versions) There is a new family coming-- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=19026 There is Wellbutrin --dopamine + norepi reuptake type Edit to add MAOIs... Parnate (not used very often) So each of these works differently, and people present all differently. No one person has the same neurotransmitter make-up as any other. Today doctors usually just try each one based on experience. There are nutrients that help DHA from fish oil Folic acid SAMe 5-HTP are examples. There are alot of people who fail on antidepressants. We just don't know why, or how to identify them.

Mrs D,
Have you found the light visor helpful? I use Fish oil and many other supplements. I have used Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro and Cymbalta. As I said they work for me emotionally but after a time I feel tired constantly, have a very low energy level and over eat. I almost feel like I'm in a catch-22.....damned if I take them but damned if I don't. I used to think the MS was causing the fatigue and lack of energy but as soon as the AD gets out of my system my energy comes back and I'm not as tired. I think I'm just rambling now I'm just frustrated.

and my reactions to it:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ht=light+visor This winter was a total bummer for me.... I felt fine all summer and in Nov...the crash started. I am still using it at the lowest setting 1/2 per day. I have skipped some days and still hold now. The link to where I bought it online is in the thread. I support the visor with a high dose B-complex but I don't take it every day. B6 is needed to make serotonin. I also have a thyroid problem, being evaluated as well, which may be an issue to some extent.
