Default Question about Ultram and Lortab

Going on a trip and have some lortab I use for pain sometimes at night along with a low dose valium. I am planning on using this at night only, but wondered if in the daytime I could use a ultram to keep down the pain level while riding in the car or should I just stick with the loratab in the day? I have to find some mixture to help besides the ice I am taking. Can't use ibuprofen this week because I have surgery(just on my hand) 7-10. My pain level is already higher than usual so I figure the trip will really send it soring, usually does. I have a PM appointment July 18 and I am so glad! Finally maybe I can get some relief??? Thanks, Gaye
