I've recently suffered/suffering from a huge amount of stress fractures. I count 7 right now in the sacrum and pelvic ring. I am waiting on the results of an MRI to see if there is also one in my lumbar spine. Today I couldn't keep the weeping down. I cried all day. This is rare for me. I'm wondering if the medicine they gave me to help (NOT!) the pain has anything to do with it. He gave me hydrocodone APAP the 100 strength. I don't like to tAke pain meds because of serious dry eye and mouth ,so I'm not taking them regularly. I take 2 at night and then no more until the pain gets so bad that I can't stand it any longer. The crying seems to come in between the dose. Am I going thru a detox period there that could be setting off the crying jags.

narcotics can certainly make some people feel sad, as can the tranquilizers like valium/klonopin/ativan. It's very individual, but they all depress the nervous system in some way, and that can make people feel down. When it happens to me, I call it depressy-poo, to separate it from really being depressed. Just weepy, but able to come back to normal when the drug wears off.

many fractures would make anyone cry,not to mention meds...You do not like
to take them,i would think it is a combination of both,not to mention crying
and dry eyes...WE would all be crying and many do...Better days for you,I wish better days... Sue

I may be way off base but I know when I have been put to sleep for like my wisdom teeth I woke up crying. It was some reaction to what they give you. So maybe it is similar to what your dealing with. I'm so sorry your in so much pain. Sending thoughts your way.

The neuro called today and the MRI was negative for any more fractures. I'm so relieved. I thought 7 was enough to deal with. Thank you all for answering. I'm sure it's the hydrocodone. Too much of a coincidence.

being in pain...no matter how strong your pain tolorance...just effects you. yep and the tears come. your body just needs a release. i know i can only handle it for so long.
