Hi everyone
I had been taking Lyrica since around feb/march of this year. I had been feeling better than i had in a VERY long time! About 4-5 weeks ago my feet started hurting,so of course i took my socks and checked them out.I couldn't even see my ankle bone! I was also having lower back problems,so i thought i should go get checked out. I was told my liver enzymes were raised and to stop taking the Lyrica! I have been inMISERY ever since. I feel like i had when all this first started 3-4 yrs ago!! I hurt all day long!!!! My feet are still retaining fluid, but not as bad. I was wondering if anyone here had experienced this, also how long before it can possibly clear up? I wasn't put on water pills or anything.I'm basically being shuffled between 2 docs that seem fed up with me!! So nothing has been done yet.I really wanna go back on the Lyrica, but they say wait, even though nothing is being done about the retention. I am going to see a neurosurgeon on the 11th.I guess they are hopin he will take over! Fed up with doctors...Kell

It is excreted whole in the urine. 90% I could not find anything in the literature on liver effects.
Edema is common with it however. You can have pain and aching with edema. Quote:

Hi Kell-
I was wondering if you had ever tried neurontin, topamax, or zonegran? If you are being prescribed the lyrica for pain, these other meds have similar modes of action, being that they all increase the levels of GABA in the CNS. And PNS for that matter! My fav amongst all of these is probably topamax- I've had the least side effects on that one. I've switched through all of these over the years trying to find the least side effects and least grogginess. Maybe one of these could be a replacement for the lyrica with fewer problems. Linnie |

Kell,
I am suffering from fluid retention in my legs and it's probably from my Lyrica. To combat this, my rheumie put me on Lasic every other day and it's a small dose. He has me eat a banana every night too. Billye

Lasix depletes THIAMINE.... which can lead to more edema (a vicious circle) and other unsavory effects.
So make sure you are taking at least a B-50 complex with it. Or thiamine alone. This is not expensive and will save you much grief. (this happened to me).
