Attention Alert: Recall Morphine Sulfate 60 mg. "Ethex" brand name

I wish to pass on an alert, issued by the American Pain Foundation (pain.org):

Voluntary Recall Morphine Sulphate 60 mg. issued by "Ethex Corporation"

According to my current understanding, this recall currently involves a single lot- Lot # 91762 - reportedly distributed by Ethex Corp. between the dates of April 16th and April 27th, 2008.

Reportedly, the recall is in response to an over-sized tablet.

Do not ingest an over-sized tablet. Doing so could be life-threatening.

As we know, a larger dose of opoids (than intended) can have life-threatening effects. (The over-sized tab may include more morphine than intended for a 60 mg. tab.)

Please check your/your loved ones morphine sulphate 60 mg. tabs for any irregularities! Please also note the fact that sometimes people needing morphine may not be able to discern irregularities for themselves if one is seriously impaired by illness/side-effects/other factors.

The American Pain Foundation recommends concerned individuals call their docotor, pharmacist, other health care professionals with questions.

Ethex Customer Service Information:

(Mon.-Fri. 8a.m.-5 p.m. CST)

Tel. 1-800-321-1705
Fax 1-314-646-3751

Email Customer-service@ethex.com

Please always check all medications whenever you receive them (even refills) from your pharmacy. Note any changes in your medications, as pharmacies often switch between various generic med providers/suppliers and, often, the same medication (active ingredient) looks very different when made by a different generic manufacturer. Please do not hesitate to inquire about any changes.

Please help to spread the word on this, as you feel is appropriate.

Wishing all an enjoyable day!
