Default Is Shingles Vaccine a live virus?
Just wondering. DH ordered one from Curascripts and I plan on giving him the shot though I won't have one myself. I take Tysabri and don't want to get shingles from the shot if it's a live virus. Does anyone know?

I had the shot a year ago...don't know if it's a live vaccine or not...bet Mrs.D knows.

It is NOT very effective. Estimates are 50% effectiveness.

The chickenpox vaccines also are problematic in this regard.

There are warnings not to use in immunocompromised patients.

Also other ingredients in it..like the neomycin may induce allergies to neomycin (which is in antibiotic ointments) for the future.
