Any of you have information on medications causing muscle pains...I know the typical ones listed as cocaine, antihypertensives and statins but I dont take any of those and have really bad muscle aches in my legs, both sides, walking, sitting, laying down, etc. Doesnt matter what I am doing. Dont have any back pain. The pain is aching in nature with occasional stabbing pains. It has really affected my walking and life in general. I have been trying to investigate all my meds but often wonder if their are more things "under the surface' then they tell us about. Such as now finding out statins causing muscle pains. Thanks for any information any of you may have. I am grasping at straws here.

Have not heard of this. What makes you think it is medication behind it?
Have you been to your doctor about It? If it is muscular, try taking a magnesium supplement. I've found this really helpful. Don't overdo it though as you can take too much. I'd really be getting some medical attention though, if I had those types of pains. Could be vascular, muscular, or something else.

If you are only affected in the legs, then metabolic or drug issues are less likely. However the large muscles often appear first when something goes haywire.
I think Peter's suggestion is good. Sometimes just a little magnesium supplement does wonders. You can also soak in the bathtub with about 4 oz of epsom salts to a tub of WARM water...if you see relief, that is a clue to getting some magnesium in supplement form or eating more magnesium source foods. Here is my thread on it: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=1138 I think anyone with chronic muscle pain, should have a CPK test run. This will show if mitochondrial issues are a potential cause. This is fairly underdiagnosed it is thought today. Muscle pain can also come when blood sugar is off. During low blood sugar episodes, you may have aching/burning or twitching in the muscles.

I see that Mrs. D is on this site too. If you recognize my name you will see that I am trying all avenues. Thank you Peter, I do take magnesium. Just had a lumbar MRI and spine series last Thursday so will see what that shows, ir anything. I really have no lower back pain. I know that some medications such as statins can contribute to such pain. So, (I dont take a statin) I thought I would investigate any medications anybody have found to cause such aches and pains. I also have peripheral neuropathy (so know Mrs. "D") so have had numerous tests. All okay. I guess it is the head doctor next! Anyway, thanks. |

As we get older, our bodies fill up with toxic residues, including kidney and gallbladder stones. Eventually all the toxicity results in general malaise. You might try doing a kidney cleanse. Google the term "Kidney Cleanse" + "stone removal" and find one that you like. (You'll have to have a two or three day weekend you can devote to those protocols.) BE SURE you have ruled out more serious matters first. |
