Default barbiturates

When one considers that barbiturate drugs have been around since 1864, is it not an amazing fact that no reliable studies have ever been carried out on this drug?. I was given these drugs for some 20 years, and it is these drugs that damaged my CNS... They also killed Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe. I knew that these drugs were wrong for me, but the addiction was too strong to discontinue them. The Doctors were to interested in walking on water to ever concern themselves about the patient being poisoned by them.
I eventually got the prescription changed when the drugs were taken off the market (Ospolot and Rutonal) and then given tegretol (carbamazepine) and epilim (sodium Valproate).

When they stopped prescribing drugs for me they did it abruptly-- The neurologist gave me 7 epilim tablets --told me to take them over 10 days- then wrote to my GP saying that he had weaned me off drugs and not to prescribe any more.

I then went into the most unpleasant withdrawal period imaginable, I eventually convulsed so hard that I fractured my spine (T4-5). I think I got off lightly there since such actions can be lethal.

I got no help or advice from Doctors at any time. At night, I would go to bed-lie flat and relax all my muscles, then I would cross my fingers and hope that the night would not be too unkind. I very often woke up in great pain which increased to the extent that it knocked me out cold..total pain.

I no longer have any faith or trust in Doctors --- Having said that, Dr H has shown promise
