Default Likely nerve damage in the lower abdomen

Hi everyone ,

Joined this group to find a solution to my problem. This happened 3 years ago while running . Used to run 7 to 8 kms a day (vigorously) , had been doing it for almost 15 years. I felt pain in my right lower abdomen area during running (bearable) the day the injury occured. later that day there was severe formation of gas (intestinal) and at night , sleep was not setting . this continued for days and my energy in the body started reducing day by day and reached a stage where i was not able to speak continuosly ( I can feel that the energy recouping is not happening in the body). No doctor in India have been able to even diagnose the problem till date . I have been using petril 0.5 for sleep (intially was using anti anxiety meds for sleep) for the last one year . Also using lyrica 150 mg at night for the past one year. I have also started taking Jarrows adrenal optimiser (read on the internet i could guess that my right adrenals are not getting re-couped the way it has to). Now i feel things are improving , sleep has got better , energy level has improved slightly . yet that recouping of energy is not happening , and sleep has not become normal and not able to speak continuosly . My right leg is also slightly tilted and not landing on the mid heel. using my right toe causes compression on my right lower abdomen and all symptoms get amplified. I can see that some nerve has got injured . I wouls like to know from the experts as to what it is , how do i recover fast and advice on my meds and diet please.

Hi vijaish

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

Why do you believe that you have nerve damage in your lower abdomen; have clinical examinations from your doctor suggested any other possibilities?

Thank you Dr. I believe bcoz i have pain in my lower abdomen (especially while walking or jogging), my digestion and absorbtion is poor (too much of instestinal gas) , unable to withstand any stress although Dr has tested my cortisol levels and found to be near min but he said its ok(but iam not ok bcoz i can see that the energy regeneration in the body is not happening the normal way especially after talking continuosly or after singing or shouting or jogging ) , my sleep is not sound , if i eat any spicy or oily food at night then the sleep wouldnt set that night, if i try to jog i can feel a dull pain in my lower abdomen and i see that all symptoms gets aggravated (intestinal gas , no energy regeneration in the body, no sleep ). This pain was initially near the lower abdomen but later has spread to my right upper back, right side of the neck, then behind my ears to then to the right temple (I feel its a nerve's path ) . My right leg also while walking , after the incident does not land on the mid of the heel , but land on the outer of the heel making my legs kind of bow legs .

I have done all tests many of the neurologist in my country have told me to do which include MRI of brain, MRI of spine , MRI of shoulder and upper back , MRI of lower right abdomen , Vitamin B12 , vitamin d3, cortisol levels , ACTH tests, Thyroid, sugar levels , testosterone levels.

The results are normal for all tests except vitamin B12 and vit d3 to be below normal levels and had taken medication for the same and had brought them to normal levels. My MRI of lower abdomen said some infection (oedema) , but Dr said its on my muscles and had given me brufen and some muscle relaxants.

Nothing worked. The root cause of the problem remains undetected. Are there any tests to find out nerve fibre damages in the abdomen region . What tests should i do and which speciality of neurologist should i consult?(bcoz in my country what i find is all neurologists look only into the central nervous system and neglect the other nervous system as i feel others dont fetch them money ) What meds and food should i take . Please help .

Default Likely Nerve injury in Lower abdomen

So , my symptoms : Pain felt from the lower rt abdomen through the upper rt back through the rt side of the neck through the rt temple , improper sleep (no sound sleep and no sleep more than 4.5 hrs ), formation of intestinal gas and is spicy food /meat is consumed at night all symptoms alleviate , if i jog then all symptoms alleviate , my right hand and leg have become weak than the left side (earlier it used to be the opposite), No regeneration of energy in the body after speaking /shouting/singing /running , right leg tilted and not landing on mid heel during walking.

The neuro i consulted told me that there is no way to diagnose if nerves near the abdomen are injured . is that true . What should i do . Experts, Please help and advice .

Your problems may be gut-related.

Getting a referral to a gastroenterologist is a plan which is worth considering.

Hi Kiwi,

Thanks for responding . Got my endoscopy, colonoscopy already done . everything found normal. However , my gastro said that it could be nerve issue in the nearby areas of large intestine and adrenal glands . But after that , neurologists fail to diagnose the root cause . i even asked one of the neurologist , if there was a way out to check the nerve fibres near the large intestine and adrenal glands. Neuro said 'No'. Is there a way out . Kindly suggest.
