Confused Sudden MP from Chiropractor adjustment?

Hi Everyone,

About two weeks ago, I started noticing a numbness in the lower/outter portion of my thigh, coincidentally the day of/after a back adjustment my DO did. After it hadn't subsided in a few days, I saw this doctor (a D.O.) and he thinks it's MP, and I tend to agree based on the research I've done.

I'm wondering if it's possible my doctor caused this nerve impingement with his back adjustment and if there is a way to find whether the impingement is happening in the spine/back or where it passes through/near that hip ligament?

Here's some specifics about me:

- not overweight, though I have a slight "beer gut". Not a huge one, but I'm in my early 30's now and my metabolism isn't what it used to be
- Have an extremely high triglyceride level (which my doctor seems to be more worried about than my MP). Could this be related? Is high triglycerides an percursor to Diabetes (I read that Diabetic neuropathy could cause MP, but afaik I'm not diabetic, even though I do have cold extremities, but that could just be bad circulation).
- No trauma to the area (no accidents or anything like that)
- seemed to come on the day of the adjustment slightly but I really noticed it the following day when I woke up
- I read that sleeping in the fetal position (which I tend to do) could cause this due to long term irritation of the nerve. Is there any chance changing my sleep position (when I can sleep - more on that later) will help?
- Luckily so far my symtoms are restricted to numbness and the occasionally hot feeling in the affected area. I can't say it's been painful at all, though the numbness is extremely annoying and wakes me up at night and prevents me from falling to sleep. Every time I turn over or move in bed, the lack of feeling wakes me up
- Are there hot/cold alternating compresses I can do to try to get the nerve out of its impingement (assuming it's occurring at the hip penetration point)? If so, are there any hints on where exactly to focus the compresses and massaging of the area between hot/cold compresses?

That's all I can think of. Would it make sense to be referred to a neurologist instead of continuing with this DO? I have an appointment with the Dr. today so hopefully he has some suggestions. Luckily it hasn't been painful, but as one of the treatments for this I read seemed to be removal or disection of the nerve or something, it sounds like most aggressive surgical treatment would be for people in pain, whereas I'm just having numbness and discomfort mostly, not pain.

Thanks in advance!
