Question Meralgia and other symptoms

Hi...I'm new be kind
I have had tremors that started in my hands years ago. They are worse now and pretty much all over my body when tired or cold or I've exercised. I started getting pain in my legs last year. I've had many sprained ankles and have a lot of weakness and pain in my ankles. I get a lot of pins and needles and bubbling sensations in my thighs and feet.
I was recently told I had meralgia. I'm in the middle of tests with neurologist. Too many red blood cells. Frequent UTIs.
However I'm not due back for a few weeks.
More recently I've lost all feeling in my lower back. I don't know when I need the toilet anymore. I can't feel it. Constipation becomes diarrhoea.
I'm struggling to climb one flight of stairs.
I'm exhausted.
I'm single but in my last relationship I admit I faked everything as I couldn't feel anything.
I've scoured forums and the Internet but can't find anyone with meralgia who has lost control and feeling of their lower back and abdomin.
Does this sound in any way familiar too anyone and if so can you tell me about it.
Consultant in two weeks and this time I want to go prepared with questions and not be left thinking I forgot to say xyz etc
Thanks x

Hi Taffym,

Welcome to Neurotalk. You have a lot more than meralgia paresthetica. MP is limited to pain in your thigh only as it is the LFCN involved. The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. Translated to side leg skin nerve. It is a sensory nerve and has no motor function.

Meralgia is a generalized term for a neurological issue. Meralgia paresthetica is specifically for issues with one specific sensory nerve.

I will look to see what forum would best serve your needs. I will get back to you in a few minutes.

Hi Taffy,

I would try putting your post under General Health forum and then others might be able to help direct you to the proper forum. There are several neurological forums and I do not know which one you would fall into for the best information.

Someone much wiser than me will come along and help you. Wishing you many responders that can be of assistance.
