Hi guys and girls, am from the UK, I have had numb burning tingling and hypersensitivey pain on my outer thigh for around 6/7 years now, getting worse and worse and never getting better, my doctor is just starting to say it could be meralgia paresthetica, so I have been looking it up and have come across this message board so I hope it comes in handy, I have been on pregabalin but I came off them as I got sensative areas on other parts of my body that won't be MP, but they are not painful but very hypersensitiveto touch and they haven't gone also, well I was on the pregabalin for the lower back pain and the hip pain on the same side as the leg, is the hip and lower back pain also a sign of MP? I have been going out my head for years with the pain, it doesn't give me a second restand weeks by week or gets worse, it feel like knives are being ripped down my leg down to my knee, would love to hear from you all. Thanks Saul.

Welcome to the Forum. Sorry for the late reply. I wasn't even aware of Meralgia Paresthetica, but having read up on it it, as I'm sure you know, it is nerve compression somewhere between the L2 L3 lumbar spine and the knee. Are your pains symmetrical? Have you tried stretching and strength training? I believe the key is to improve mobility to give the nerves more room to avoid compression. Do you have forward pelvic tilt? If you feel stretching makes things worse, have you applied ice packs? Do you get pain in any other part of your body? Check out the suggested routine below:- Must Do Exercises for Relieving the Pain of Meralgia Paresthetica Best wishes, Atty |

I saw this on YouTube:-
Meralgia Paresthetica (Bernhardt-Roth Syndrome) is a condition in which the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve becomes entrapped within the tissues it runs through or may be injured through a traumatic event. Symptoms include pain, burning, tingling, numbness, and hypersensitivity. These symptoms may be intense and may affect activities of daily living.
