Default MP and Knee problems

My neurologist concluded that my symptoms result from obesity - but I am not over (nor under) weight. I assume that the real source is my back, though the MRI did not conclusively support that. I have 11 fused thoracic vertebrae due to scoliosis, which was done over 40 years ago. I puzzle over what causes my symptoms to worsen: definitely standing, sometimes maybe sitting. My worst symptom is the elastic band-type tightness surrounding my knee, but I also have thigh numbness and burning. I really don't know if this knee symptom is part of my MP - an orthopedic doctor I saw recently said that I had knee pain because there is no other possible explanation. "Squeezing" pain doesn't seem to be a usual description, but it makes it quite difficult to walk. I started wearing Spira shoes this week, and they seem to help more than Gabapentin or anything else I have tried. Assuming that my back is the source of this problem, it makes sense that reducing the impact of walking would help.
