No UTI, but stayed "sensitive" for a few more days. I rested, and didnt walk. Am back to my 1 mile a day.

BBS1951 10-10-2009 09:37 AM

Good job ewiz.

Dejibo, I am glad you are feeling better, enough so that you could walk :)

I swam my mile this morning.

BBS1951 10-12-2009 06:42 PM

Guess what ? Yup, another day, another mile ::

Keep on Moving :)

Erin524 10-12-2009 08:11 PM

Havent exercised all weekend, but I'm making the supreme effort to clean out my closet tonight. (walk-in closet, that's stuffed to the gills with containers of scrap yarn, and college books from classes I took more than 5yrs ago, among other crap)

I keep having to stop and rest because my back hurts from bending over. So far, I've found a few things I was looking for, and I've tossed a bunch of my old school notebooks.

I'm giving away a lot of my scrap yarn. (cheap acrylic...my yarn tastes have become more discerning) I think if I can get to the point where I can actually get into my closet to change the lightbulbs tonight, it will totally count as exercise.

Then once I can see the clothing, I'm loading up a pile of stuff for either the Goodwill or for the Paralyzed Veterans. I want to de-clutter my room so that I can start organizing things easier. (getting a custom-built corner desk put in my room in the next few months...Corian desktop, bookcases with crown molding...yay!)

I think I'll be able to sleep tonight, I've actually gotten a lot done, and only been at it a few hours. I just hope I dont hurt my back doing this.

It's going to freak out my dad. I dont get in the cleaning mood very often. Much less in the mood to donate things. I just want to get things cleaned up so that when they come to build my desk I dont have to hire a front-end loader so that they can get into my room. (I really want that desk!)

I figure if it tires me out, it counts as exercise.

ewizabeth 10-12-2009 08:33 PM

Oops, I forgot to post about it. I mowed the lawn yesterday. I did the riding part first after our oldest DS showed me how to use the rider... whe-eeee! :)

Then I finished the trim with the push mower, and it took about 45 minutes. It was really long so I'm going to rake the dried grass tomorrow and put it in the compost pile. First (at DS's suggestion) I'm going to go buy a wider and lightweight rake. The one I've been using is an old wooden one DH found when somebody threw it out about 20 years ago. :o

I might get a thatch rake too and do that when I finish if I have the energy.

tkrik 10-13-2009 10:02 AM

Let's see . . . I was a bum over the weekend in the exercise department. (Did homework all weekend). Yesterday morning I didn't walk per se, just did lunge walking in DBF's back yard for about 5 minutes. I walked today.:D

I am hoping to get my bike (3-wheeled) fix this coming weekend so I can start riding it. I want to add that in on some days.

Debbie D 10-13-2009 12:39 PM

On Sunday I cleared out all the flower beds and containers and put the containers in the shed. I also raked the front lawn and got the winter birdfeeder out. My DH mowed the lawn and got the pond prepared for winter (I was grateful, since I can't kneel down easily). I think I worked outside for about 4 hours without stopping.
Which might be one of the reasons I slept all day yesterday...and all morning this morning. But I forced myself to take the dog for a 30 minute walk late this morning, and I feel reinvigorated. I have to ease back into working out, since my neck is still stiff from last week, but about 80% recovered.

BBS1951 10-13-2009 04:37 PM

Thats a lot of work Erin! Cleaning out your closet, that reminds me of that great Eminem song.

Good landscaping ewiz. Why can't you just leave the clippings on the lawn? Or is it one of those super nice lawns?

Sounds like good exercise to me tkrik :)

Debbie, I am pooped just reading about your gardening activities :)

I swam a mile this morning.

ewizabeth 10-13-2009 11:58 PM

I raked grass clippings today and picked up most of it for the compost pile (40 minutes of activity). I'll get the pine needles tomorrow and use them for mulch around my various hydrangeas (they love the acid composition of the pine needles).

After that's done I'm finished until the leaves fall from our maple tree in the front yard. By then I hope the compost bin will be settled enough to take most of the leaves so it can all "brew" throughout the winter and springtime in time for mulching next summer. :)

BBS, our lawn is far from perfect. I was thinking we need to get a thatcher attachment for the mower or hire it to be done. I don't know if I could do it all with our rake. It needs to be thatched and then some organic "weed and feed" next spring.

BBS1951 10-14-2009 05:29 PM

Interesting ewiz. We just laeve the grass clippings on the lawn after mowing. But its not a fancy lawn, just a yard of a lwan.

Swam a mile this morning :)

ewizabeth 10-15-2009 09:49 AM

We usually just leave them too, but our youngest DS didn't mow soon enough (he works and plays in his band about 70 hrs per week) so it looked like a harvested hay field after I mowed. I needed the grass clippings for the compost anyway, lol.

sabimax 10-15-2009 12:03 PM

been a while since peeked in, but I did do 20min of yoga this morning... trying to stretch my back and body... many spasms going on!! so trying to stretch extra...

did some hand weights yesterday, just light ones... hugss, sarah

Dejibo 10-15-2009 05:24 PM

Took the neighbors dog for walk this morn. he got off leash. I spent 5 hours in the woods hiking around trying to find this lost, scared, wandering doggie. I am beat, and know I spent enough spoons for 5 weeks. Thats enough exercise for me! :(

BBS1951 10-15-2009 06:05 PM

Sabi, Its good to see you again. We missed you :) Nice job.

Dejibo: That is so very frustrating. You are definitely out of spoons for a few days after that escapade. Bad Dog, bad, bad bad dog :)

Swam a mile this morning.

BBS1951 10-16-2009 03:12 PM

I swam a mile this morning, water is 84 degrees. We will get a cold front this weekend though (for Florida at least).

Erin524 10-16-2009 03:22 PM

I'm just waiting for my dad to get home so that we can both go to the gym.

Half my body is still numb, but today for some reason I'm feeling better. I actually feel like going and doing some exercise. I finished my steroid taper 3 days ago, so I dont know if that's why I feel better.

My pinky finger doesnt feel as stiff and unmovable as it did, but my ring finger still feels super bizzare.

ewizabeth 10-16-2009 06:38 PM

I did 30 minutes on the elliptical today. I just learned my cholesterol has gone up, so I really have to keep up with this. :o

BBS1951 10-18-2009 02:12 PM

I'm glad you are feeling better Erin :)

Nice job, Ewiz :)

I swam a mile today, even though it was only 65 out. It was still very nice :)

ewizabeth 10-18-2009 02:19 PM

Yesterday I did medium intensity puttering out in the yard for 45 minutes. I had to pick up the rest of the grass piles and divide them between the compost pile and the burn pit. I did some other yard clean up and also spread the pine needles around my hydrangeas and baby evergreen plants I just planted this spring.

Today I want to dust the furniture and do my Pilates for the midsection (I call them my gut busters, lol.) If I actually do them I'll post an update.

Everybody have a great week! :)

sabimax 10-19-2009 01:59 PM

yesterday did some hand weights, and took the two little ones in double stroller for a good size walk! yeahh (woke today in pain with my feet, back and such)

hate that part! on work days like today, after working and then once done I stiffen up so badly... spasms.. and that is on baclofen... have to check with neuro on this at the visit in a few weeks. ugggg (terrible to be so bad off with no dx)

anyhow, back to positive thinking, today I am on way for a short nap, then either a walk or yoga! yeahhhh I promise!

BBS1951 10-19-2009 06:10 PM

NIce work ewiz :)

Sabi, great that you got to walk, but it stinks that you suffered for it.

I swam a mile in the heated public pool this morning: luxury!

ewizabeth 10-19-2009 06:38 PM

Way to go on the mile in the heated pool BBS. :)

Ok, I did the gut busters today and also 35 minutes shooting baskets. It was in the upper 50s when I was out this afternoon. :D I haven't done that in about 3 weeks or more, think I'll have sore muscles tomorrow?

SallyC 10-19-2009 07:08 PM

I'm especially trying to keep as limber and moveable as possible this week, since I go to my PCP for my annual check-up, Thursday. :)

Good going everyone..:grouphug:

sabimax 10-20-2009 03:31 PM

yoga last night, worked today, and stiffness galore, hurting lots with spasticity.. I bowl tonight too. we will see how I sleep tonight
no plans for walk or yoga today. With work, then bowling three games soon.. that is it.. hugsss, sarah

BBS1951 10-20-2009 04:25 PM

Sabi, its great that you continue to move even though you are in pain.

Sally, thats a great idea. Can we encourage you to continue even after you see your doc?

Ewiz, "you da man"!

I swam in the public outdoors heated pool. I forgot my towel. It took seven paper towels to dry off ;)

Erin524 10-20-2009 05:28 PM

Just got home from treadmilling. Did .54 of a mile. (that's a little over half a mile right??? I'm math challenged...)

Did that in about 30 minutes...and it was the default speed setting for the treadmill. I didnt speed it up, still not feeling all that great so I figured I'd go slow...at least I was exercising...slowly, but still exercising.

Had a panic attack when I realized my Kindle had been left on for 3 days, and the wireless was turned on too....not sure what happened, Kindle was in screensaver mode and wouldnt wake up immediately. After fiddling with the power switch and the wireless switch it finally woke up, and the battery claimed it was a full charge...and I was able to read my book. (yay! I would have been bored, even tho I had my headphones to listen to Glenn Beck with on the radio gizmo on the treadmill. The radio thingie keep dropping the audio for some reason. I prefer to watch him on Fox News anyways)

Now I'm going to go take a migraine pill (had a headache all day, which is worse since walking) and take a nap.

ewizabeth 10-20-2009 05:53 PM

Erin,

Have you ever tried to listen to music while exercising? At home I watch TV shows when using the elliptical since it's in the room where DH's HDTV is.

I kind of wish I had a music headset of some kind for when I shoot baskets. Though I made up a scoring system for playing against myself and I get different scores depending on how I do in a particular part of the routine.

Some day I might get a Wii for working out to, especially in the wintertime. DH doesn't like me to workout on the elliptical when he's watching his shows or napping in his chair.

Erin524 10-21-2009 03:05 AM

I have an iPod that I take with me sometimes when I want to listen to an audiobook or audiodrama. (I get Stargate audio dramas on cd, they're about an hour long. So, it's kind of like listening to an episode of the tv show...they usually have one of the main characters from the tv show doing most of the drama, with one supporting actor, not always one of the main characters from the show)

I just cant read my Kindle and listen to an audiobook at the same time.

When I listen to music, lately it's been classical music, or one of the movie scores that I've got. (like the scores from Dances with Wolves, and Somewhere in Time...think both were written by the same composer) I have a bunch of movie scores on my iPod, and I'm not afraid that I'll break out into song while listening to them.

Lately, I've preferred to read my Kindle while on the treadmill. The Kindle makes it so easy to read and walk...something that I cant do when I'm not on a treadmill. (but then, I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time...gum is gross actually)

BBS1951 10-21-2009 06:18 PM

Ewiz, I do like to watch TV while I do the weight lifting. It makes it go faster. I really dont like that one exercise of weight lifting, but it builds bone, so....

I swam a mile today and loved it.

ewizabeth 10-21-2009 08:34 PM

We're being blessed with a bit of Indian Summer here in N. Illinois. :) Today I headed out for a walk, but I could tell right away that my legs weren't up for a walk, so I went back home and got my bike out.

DS had to air up the tires because I haven't taken a ride for a couple of months. I rode for 30 minutes and got pretty good exercise because it was quite breezy.

tkrik 10-22-2009 09:39 AM

Checking in . . .

Dang near killed my body last week doing chores, refinishing a shelf (lots of stretching on that one - keep the core muscles in check), yard work, and daily walks. Body rebelled for a few days and I only did my walks and stretches.

Back on board today so did my walk (I'm up to 20 min. now) and will be heading over to my parents to attempt a bit of yard work. I love this weather and just want to be outside as much as I can.:p

BBS1951 10-22-2009 06:45 PM

I love Indian Summer too Ewiz :)

Nice to see you checking in tkrik, and staying active.

I swam a mile thi smorning in the heated public pool. I had the whole pool to myself-- all 28 lanes, but I only used one of them ;)

tkrik 10-23-2009 10:43 AM

I only did yoga this morning. Trying to conserve energy for the other things I have to do today.

BBS - My cousin's kids swam a race with Michael Phelps. The older of the 2 almost beat Phelps.:p It was pretty cool to watch.

Erin524 10-23-2009 01:03 PM

I finally got enough crap out of my closet that I can see the floor in there, and walk around in the closet.

I'm sore now...took me from about 10pm till about 2 or 3am to really get going in the closet. That was actual exercise. My arms are sore now and I feel like I did too much exercise. So, I guess cleaning the closet really does count as exercise.

Now I can get to the Rubbermaid totes that are stored in the closet. Once I can get those out of there, I can vacuum and then try to get my large standing jewelry box into the closet (so I have more room in my room) I can finally reach my fabric stash again, (huge Rubbermaid tote that I can barely lift) so now I can start sewing again. Yay!

I also got a nice donation of scrap yarn put into some shopping bags...that part was easier than I thought it would be. I thought I was more attached to the yarn than I was...it was easy to just toss balls of yarn into the donation pile without having to think about it or regret it.

Next will be to go thru the clothes that I dont wear (because they mostly dont fit me anymore) and toss them into the donation pile too.

Next cleaning (exercise) project will be to empty out my computer cabinets. Probably wont get as much exercise from cleaning those out as I did going thru the closet.

I think I'll rest today and finish the closet tomorrow...I think I dropped some spoons in the closet. I'm tired today!

SallyC 10-23-2009 01:08 PM

All my moving yesterday....going to the Doc's, has me a little achy and too pooped to pop, but I did my stretches (sort of) this morning. ;)

Congrats to All. :grouphug:

Moving right along..:D

sabimax 10-23-2009 04:03 PM

Can we count fun in bed!! lol just teasing.. had to make you all smile

TK good for you with the yoga...

good for all moving so much...

I might do some yoga in a bit... I worked full day and tired, sore and spasms.. but having an ok day!!

I go to neuro Monday, gotta inform him of my dizzy spells that I was having in summer... and the right leg going numb and hardly able to use it for gas pedal after working on feet some days... thinking he will say oh ok... lol

well gotta go, hugss to all, sarah

BBS1951 10-23-2009 04:14 PM

Erin, of course it counts.

Sallyc--that is great that you moved around today even though you ached from yesterdays activity.

sabi: count fun in bed if you were pretty active at it :) I wouldnt know, those days are over for me I think...

Thats a drag about those sypmtoms sabi.

I got to the public pool at 7 a.m. and went swimming and watched the sun go up while doing laps. Chilly, but not too bad. One Mile.

sabimax 10-23-2009 04:18 PM

woohoo BBS, good for you and the swimming... I love swimming, but just do not get a chance! we used to be members at the Y., but never got there much...

hugsss and thanks, sarah

Getting more done in the day

The weather is heating up nicely and the pool is keeping its temperature so its a daily swim for me, if only for a short one.
Other than that, I'm on horse poop duty as always. Managed 1 acre today, helped by a little pony who had to check every poop that went in the barrow. Then he walks alongside me with his nose on the handle; helping me. :winky:
Also weeded about half an acre of the top paddock of the dreaded water weed stuff I have. Luckily its a case of pulling at the root and about a foot squared of plant comes up. I came across a hiding lizard and a rabbit.
Then off to collect and move two half tonne bales of hay, rolling them off the end of a trailer.
Oh, and the laundry and cooking and usual fence repairs and grooming and feeding.
Now it's 2 in the morning and I can't sleep again...
Oh, and No energy for getting jiggy with it.

Aw, that's so sweet about the pony. :D Just make sure you don't let him give you a kiss after he helps, lol. Wow, I wish I had farm chores to do, I'd be in heaven.:heartthrob:
